What to Expect

I work from the consultation room at Strichen Surgery, part of Buchan Veterinary Clinics. You do not need to be a Buchan Vets client to see me at Strichen. I am also able to come to your home; please note this may incur a travel fee.

Massage can be a new experience for your dog. Please do not worry if they do not settle! However, there are some things that you can do that may help your dog to relax:

  • Have a quiet space for us to work.

You may decide your home is too noisy and your dog would settle better at Strichen. You may decide your dog is nervous in new environments and feel it is better for me to come to your home.

  • Have a space free from distractions.

Please no toys or treats whilst the session is taking place.

  • Book a time when your dog is more relaxed.

For example, it may be best not to book the time when you would normally take your walk; it is unlikely your dog will settle.

  • Bring your dog’s favourite bed or blanket.

This will give your dog permission to lay down and relax.

  • Encourage your dog to toilet before the massage session.

The first session will last about 90 minutes. I will have an in depth chat with you about your dog, their environment and habits before doing a gait analysis. After this we will then settle down for palpation and massage.

After the session I will explain to you what I have found and show you where there are areas of issue.  I will also provide you with aftercare instructions.  Please do ask any questions however silly you may think they are!

On completion of three sessions I will send your vet a report form, which your vet will then add on to your dog’s clinical record.

Please note: After any vaccination, booster or parasite treatment I require a 2 week period before I am able to massage your dog. This is because I do not want to put pressure on your dog’s system when it is working especially hard.
